This Privacy Policy explains how AutoTripLogger ("the app", "we", "us") handles your information. By using AutoTripLogger you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
- Location data: The app collects precise and background location to automatically detect, record, and categorise your trips. This is the core function of the app.
- Trip records: Start and end points, routes, distances, timestamps, and any business-area categorisation generated from your trips.
- Odometer readings: Readings you record yourself, with the time and, where available, the suburb they were taken in.
- Subscription status: Whether you have an active subscription, managed through our payments provider.
We do not collect your name, contacts, photo library, or browsing activity.
Camera: If you choose to photograph your odometer, the app uses the camera to read the number from the image. That processing happens entirely on your device, and the photo is not saved, not added to your photo library, and never uploaded — only the reading you confirm is stored. You can always enter readings by hand instead, and camera access is optional.
2. How Your Information Is Used
- To detect, record, and display your trips and mileage.
- To reconcile your logged distance against the odometer readings you record.
- To let you export your records as CSV and PDF files.
- To provide and manage your subscription.
3. Where Your Data Is Stored
Your trip data is stored on your device. The app does not upload your trips to our servers. If you choose to enable optional cloud backup (for example, Dropbox), your data is sent only to the service you connect, under your control, and subject to that service's own privacy policy.
4. Third-Party Services
- Apple / Google: In-app subscriptions are processed by the app store you purchased through. We never receive your payment card details.
- RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. It receives a pseudonymous identifier and purchase information, not your trip data.
- Dropbox (optional): Only used if you explicitly connect your account. Exports are then uploaded to a folder in your own Dropbox. We hold no copy and have no access to it; you can disconnect at any time in the app's Settings, or revoke access from your Dropbox account.
5. Location Permissions
The app requests "Always" location access so it can detect trips in the background. You can change or revoke this at any time in your device's Settings. Disabling background location will stop automatic trip detection.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share your location or trip data with advertisers.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
Because trip data lives on your device, you can delete it at any time by removing trips in the app or uninstalling the app. If you used optional cloud backup, delete those files from that service to remove the copies there.
8. Children's Privacy
AutoTripLogger is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
