What is AutoTripLogger?

AutoTripLogger automatically detects and records your drives in the background, so your mileage is logged without you having to start or stop anything manually.

How does automatic tracking work?

With your permission, the app uses background location to detect when a trip begins and ends. Tracking keeps working even when the app is closed. You can fine-tune accuracy and battery use in Settings.

How do I start or stop tracking?

Open the Home screen and use the tracking control at the top. You can stop tracking at any time, and your recorded trips remain saved.

What is AutoTripLogger Pro?

Pro is a monthly or annual subscription with a free trial to start, and it supports continued development of the app. Every feature described on this page — automatic detection, odometer reconciliation, CSV and PDF export, and Dropbox backup — is available to you today. There are no ads, and no limit on how many trips you can record.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed through the store you bought them from. On iPhone, open Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions. On Android, open the Google Play Store → Menu → Subscriptions. If you subscribed on another device, use Restore Purchases in the app's Settings.

How do I export my trips?

Use the Export button on the Home screen. You can export the last 4, 6 or 12 weeks — the 12-week option matches the ATO logbook method — or every trip you've recorded. Each export produces a CSV for your own records and a formatted PDF suitable for sending to an accountant.

What is the odometer reconciliation report?

No GPS tracker catches every drive — a tunnel, a flat battery or a phone left at home will all cost you a trip. Recording your odometer occasionally lets the app compare what it logged against the distance you actually travelled, and report the difference. Your business percentage is then applied to the real distance rather than only the tracked portion. You'll find it under Export → Reconciliation Report, produced per quarter.

How do I record an odometer reading?

Tap the odometer button on the Home screen. You can photograph your odometer and let the app read the number from the image, or simply type it in. The photo is processed on your device and is never stored or uploaded — only the number you confirm is saved.

How does Dropbox backup work?

In Settings, tap Connect Dropbox and sign in once. Exports are then uploaded to a folder in your own Dropbox automatically. You can also enable a scheduled backup — hourly, daily, weekly or monthly — so a copy of your trip log is kept off the phone without you thinking about it. Your phone and operating system decide exactly when background work runs, so a backup may happen a little later than the time you pick, but it won't be skipped.

How is my location data used?

Your trip data is used only to detect and record your drives. Cloud backup is optional and entirely under your control. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
